Introduction to the Preparatory Education Program for International Students in Qingdao University of Science and Technology
In order to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and people from all over the world, and to develop exchanges and cooperation between China and the rest of the world in the fields of education, science and technology, culture, economy and trade, the Chinese government has established various scholarship programs to sponsor students and scholars from all over the world. Chinese institutions of higher learning study, further study and engage in research activities. Chinese Government Scholarships are full scholarships or partial scholarships provided by the Ministry of Education of China in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached with relevant national governments, institutions, schools and relevant international organizations. Including undergraduate scholarships, postgraduate scholarships, doctoral scholarships, scholarships for Chinese language students, scholarships for general students, and scholarships for advanced students.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, all high school graduates who apply to study in China for undergraduate degrees in science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and economics from countries specified in the Chinese Government Scholarship Program of the Ministry of Education of China must first study in preparatory courses after coming to China. The course content is basic knowledge of Chinese and mathematics, physics and chemistry, and the study period is 1 to 2 academic years. Only those who pass the examination after the study can enter the professional colleges to study. Qingdao University of Science and Technology has been a Chinese government scholarship-funded school since 2012. As a result, our school began to carry out the preparatory education program for undergraduate students studying in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship in 2012.
1. Cultivation objects
International students who come to China for undergraduate education with Chinese government scholarships are required to receive preparatory education, but those who meet one of the following two conditions can apply for exemption:
Foreign students who have completed secondary education in Chinese as their language of study should attach the certificate issued by their graduate school that the language of instruction for compulsory secondary education courses is Chinese.
Students who have obtained HSK scores that meet the learning standards for entry into professional schools should attach a copy of the HSK certificate to the application. In principle, the validity period of HSK scores is two years.
2. Years of study
In principle, it is 1-2 academic years. Among them, for preparatory freshmen without Chinese foundation, in principle, the pre-professional education in science, engineering, economics, law, management and other disciplines is 1 academic year (40 weeks); the pre-major education in literature, communication, art and other disciplines is generally 2 years (80 weeks). For preparatory freshmen with a certain Chinese foundation, the study time can be adjusted appropriately.
3. Cultivation goals
Through intensive preparatory education, students can meet the basic standards for entering the professional stage of Chinese institutions of higher learning in terms of Chinese language knowledge and ability, relevant professional knowledge, and cross-cultural communication ability. After completing preparatory education, students should have the following knowledge and abilities:
1. Possess certain communicative competence in Chinese and cross-cultural communication: have a preliminary understanding of the general situation of Chinese culture and society, the ability to use the acquired Chinese language knowledge and skills to solve basic problems in daily life; master basic Chinese vocabulary and basic grammar points, master A certain amount of professional vocabulary and common expressions in technical Chinese, the basic ability to use Chinese to listen, memorize and ask questions in the classroom teaching of professional courses; the preliminary ability to read Chinese professional materials with the help of reference books and the corresponding requirements when entering professional learning of written expression.
2. The Chinese language proficiency must meet the following standards: science, engineering, economics, law, management and other disciplines should not be lower than HSK level 3; literature, communication, art and other disciplines should not be lower than HSK level 6.
3. Possess certain basic professional knowledge: Preparatory students in science and engineering should master mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer and other knowledge required for professional study; economics, law, management should master mathematics, computer, etc. required for professional study Knowledge; preparatory students majoring in literature, communication, art, etc. should master the knowledge of ancient Chinese and computers required for professional study.
4. Teaching Mode
According to the training objectives of the project, the intensive accelerated teaching mode is adopted, and the combination of language teaching, professional knowledge teaching and cultural teaching is adhered to. Preparatory education courses include language, culture, professional knowledge and practice.
The main courses include: comprehensive Chinese course, comprehensive training course, conversation course, Chinese character course, listening course, Chinese pronunciation, vocabulary and reading and writing, medical Chinese, mathematics, chemistry, biology, computer basics, Chinese culture series courses, etc.
In addition to the main courses, a variety of second-class activities such as Chinese practice and cultural experience are also arranged for students.
