International College

The college comprises four departments: the main office, the Department of International Students Affairs, the Department of International Students Teaching Management, and the Chinese Teaching and Research Department, employing 19 teachers, including two professors and four associate professors. They have rich teaching experiences in the United States, Britain, Canada, Germany, and South Korea.

The International College adheres to the university motto "明德 笃学 弘毅 拓新", with the purpose of "融汇东西文化,培养国际人才", while upholds the university philosophy of "兼容并蓄 海纳百川", and focuses on improving students' cross-cultural communication ability. Furthermore, we develop students for exchanges and cooperation worldwide from an international perspective.

In recent years, the International College has accepted more than 2,000 international students from more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Russia, France, Canada, South Korea, and Japan. Up to September 2018, 80 percent of the international students have won the Chinese Government Scholarship, Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship, and Qingdao Municipal Government Scholarship.

1. Systematic teaching principle

The teaching style of International College fully implements the basis of the university's teaching method. In addition, it implements a "wide-caliber, solid foundation, and diverse" talent training model with a flexible credit-based system that integrates with undergraduate and junior college students.

2. Innovative student management model

Students are managed primarily by the administration of their dormitory. The new international student apartment incorporates education, management, and service. This model is innovative and effective, and students from different majors can socialize with each other.

3. Efficiently functioning teaching resources

International students can enjoy the same teaching resources just like domestic students. For instance, the first phase of the campus project, the Hongyi Building, finished construction in September 2002 and has more than 100 classrooms with ten thousand seats. The Mingde Teaching Building, which started operation in 2007, has a construction area of more than 40,000 square meters. Specifically, there are large numbers of multimedia classrooms, the largest of which can accommodate more than 200 people. Furthermore, our library covers an area of 35,000 square meters. It has a collection of more than 1 million books. The public computer room has nearly 1,000 new computers with a shared teaching server, enabling the three campuses' systems to be interconnected and fully maximize resource sharing. The computer network resources of Qingdao University of Science and Technology are very convenient, and every dormitory has access to the Internet.

4. Safe and stable campus environment

The Laoshan Campus, where the International College is located, has a beautiful surrounding environment. The local government and school leaders work tirelessly to maintain security on campus, providing a full guarantee for the safety and stability of the campus. Ever since the university moved into the new community, the working environment has been safe and stable, and teachers, students, and staff can teach and work with peace of mind.

5. Convenient living space

Accommodation is the first question every student has to face. In general, Our international student dormitory adopts the unit organization mode. Every 2-3 dormitories form a unit, sharing a bathroom and two water heaters. Each room has one bed equipped with a balcony, wardrobe, closet, air conditioner, refrigerator, etc... every student is equipped with a separate network interface or other modern communication facilities.

The international students' campus has many facilities such as a cafeteria, shopping mall, bank, and outpatient department. The campus uses the "All-in-One Card" system for management and settlement. The campus cafeteria has three floors and a building area of 10,000 square meters. It can accommodate nearly 10,000 people for meals at the same time. The campus also has an outpatient department, where more than a dozen medical staff, including physicians and surgeons dispatched by the university hospital, are on duty 24 hours a day. The college campus also has public automatic laundry rooms, automatic water machines, sports facilities, and other living and activity facilities.
